The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Improving Project Management

The world is currently undergoing many changes, with technology constantly evolving to improve people’s lives. Technological advances have made the seemingly impossible in the last decade a part of today’s life. Problems that were difficult and complex have now become easier, while other areas have also become increasingly complex. It is worth noting that every profession is subject to the dynamics that result from technological advances.

Various industries are using technology aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness while enabling management to be reliable, secure, and informed. The integration of human capabilities and technological systems has resulted in increased efficiency and encouragement with everyone so continuous improvement is being ensured (Munir, 2019). Integration of technology and human capabilities has also been implemented in project management. Project management features three pillars (Andrew Adkins, 2017)

  1. The presence of strong and effective project managers.
  2. Achieving project managers with an environment conducive to success.
  3. Ensuring accountability throughout the organization.

Artificial Intelligence works to enhance human capabilities. This article examines the role of artificial intelligence in project management, including its application in project management, and examines the benefits of integrating AI into project management. hence, it examines how AI facilitates best the project management field

Artificial Intelligence has a variety of tools including Chatbots, Stratejos, ZiveBox, Rescoper, ClickUp, Clarizen, and PolyOne that help project managers handle different tasks (Lahmann, Keiser, et al., 2018). For example, they help the manager in composing the project team as well as assigning roles and responsibilities to individual team members (Butt, 2018). AI tools are also helpful in ensuring that project managers manage effectively and adhere to deadlines. There are numerous benefits to using project intelligence for project managers. First, AI provides support to project managers. This is because it reduces the burden and pressure of project management through the use of machines. AI is also helpful to project managers in providing accuracy of results as there are no errors or omissions in the tasks performed using AI (McCarthy, 2007). In addition, the use of AI helps project managers develop insights and strategies. For example, an AI tool is able to suggest alternative or additional measures for project managers who are handling very difficult projects. In addition to assisting project managers in performing the above tasks, it also increases efficiency and effectiveness, thus increasing the productivity of the project manager while increasing their emotional intelligence and productivity. Abd and Somardi, 2002).

Artificial Intelligence Project Management

Project Management AI can be seen as an integrated system capable of running a project without the need for human assistance. The use of AI power does not involve automated tasks but involves evaluating with different insights and therefore making process recommendations, making project decisions, and unveiling team insights (Schreck et al., 2018). For example, due to technological advances, there must be specific technologies capable of combating the right skills and responsibilities with the right resources in the future. Investment in technology has been increased by HR departments with the aim of improving their hiring process.

According to (Helsgaun, 2008) firms that employ AI in their recruitment process are likely to see a 20% improvement in their employee performance. On the other hand, (Auth et al., 2019) argue that the use of AI in recruitment has resulted in a 4% improvement in revenue and an approximately 35% reduction in employee turnover. This is important to significantly reduce employee waste of time. Using AI, project managers do not need to make an extra effort like using AI, they are able to study the output of team members and assign regular tasks based on the ability of individual team members. Can also AI also helps create a knowledge management ecosystem that is essential for storing knowledge that can be used when an employee leaves the organization. Based on (Olaf Passenheim, 2002), AI is also useful in collecting workplace behavior patterns while centralizing worker knowledge which is essential for improving quality and consistency in project management. Fundamentals of AI

It is important to use technology to make people’s lives easier, but also to facilitate the process, which would require significant human effort and time without technology (Kutschenreiter-Praszkiewicz, 2009). The application of AI, which combines machine learning and decision-making skills and integrates them with human skills (Humanly, 1995) is the next stage of evolution. AI is useful for simplifying the performance of routine and circular tasks, especially those that involve a large number of assembly lines.

AI was developed for a variety of reasons, including managing cybersecurity issues, diagnosing medical conditions, and tracking wildlife among other uses (Lahmann, Keiser, et al., 2018). However, keep in mind that AI may one day overtake human intelligence and therefore their cooperation in the workplace is a major obstacle to its adoption. This is due to the ability of AI to perform tasks that have previously been performed by humans (Seedahmed, 2019).

On the bright side, AI has been used to perform tedious and time-consuming tasks, giving humans the opportunity to have free time and therefore perform tasks that cannot be automated. Much progress has been made in terms of project and artificial management, although much remains to be done.
